Spelling Bee!

This image was taken with a new camera. Well, old camera really. A converted "Mini Speed Graphic" to digital. Focus is purposely thrown off to give a different look. Here, the two finalist in the St. Bernadette School spelling bee face off. The young girl seated just missed her word and awaits her fate as the young man takes his turn for the win.

Seeing my father and daughter together...well there is no greater feeling.

Capitol at Night!

I am trying out a new lens. Nikon's 14 - 24 mm 2.8 N lens. Once again Nikon scores a big "+" in my book. All but one of the shots was crated with this lens. The top of the dome on the Capitol building was shot using a 70- 200 mm 2.8 VR lens. And again, WOW!

Ordinary! Extraordinary!

I was in Arkansas this past week photographing home care and hospice patients. One of which was a retired physician. In his front yard was an old '57 Chevrolet. I just had to photograph this beautiful car. In response to this week's assignment for my students, that is to take an ordinary image and give it some life to propel it to the next level, I tried my hand at giving this old car some new life.

When I asked the good doctor about his car he simply said; "Two things we never part with...our kids and our cars."

Here is the original view of the car.

Up close.

Here is the altered view.

Unseen 1!

This week's assignment is on the unseen. Here is an "unseen" that I came across while photographing another job. Not real interesting, just pretty.

Moon Rise!

A couple of weeks ago, when I was down in Ft. Lauderdale, I awoke to the site of the moon over the inlet. I thought I should get a shot knowing that what I saw and what the camera could capture are not one and the same. So the first picture is what the camera actually captured. The second picture is what I saw with a modification of the moon's size. Same camera file. Just altered. The camera's latitude is quite remarkable!

Apples! Apples! Apples!

On Sunday I took my family to the Graves Mountain Lodge Apple Harvest Festival. What a beautiful part of the world! Here are a couple of shots from the apple orchard.
